PRACTICAL INFORMATION

Where do sessions take place?

Face-to-face sessions take place in this beautiful, peaceful room in Gosforth:

Online sessions take place via the secure video-conferencing platform Zoom.

Outdoor therapy sessions take place in the beautiful surroundings of Gosforth Nature Reserve. You can find out more about outdoor therapy here.

How long do sessions last and how much do they cost?

Sessions last 60 minutes and cost £80 per session.

I usually work with clients on a weekly basis, at the same time each week. This consistency helps us build a trusting relationship and provides a reliable space as our work together develops.

I recognise that therapy is a significant financial commitment. Some people come for a focused piece of work over 8 -12 sessions, while others choose longer-term support. Together, we'll think about what feels realistic, helpful and sustainable for you.

I also offer a limited number of 90-minute fortnightly outdoor therapy sessions. These longer sessions cost £120 (approximately £240 per month) and can make therapy more affordable.

If we decide to integrate EMDR into our work, we may also agree that a longer session would be beneficial for processing a particular memory. In these cases, a 90-minute session also costs £120.

Payment is requested in advance of each session.

How many sessions might I need?

There is no set number of sessions. Some people come for a focused piece of work over 8–12 sessions, while others choose longer-term therapy.

We'll regularly reflect on how things are progressing and think together about what feels most helpful for you.

Do you accept private health insurance?

Yes. I am a recognised psychotherapy provider for Aviva, AXA Health and WPA. If you have a policy with one of these insurers, please contact them to confirm whether your policy covers you for psychotherapy work with me.

What happens if I need to cancel a session?

You can cancel or rearrange your appointment up to 72 hours before your scheduled session without charge.

If you're unable to give 72 hours' notice, or you miss your appointment without letting me know, the full session fee will usually apply. The only exception is in the case of an unexpected and serious personal emergency.

Where possible, I'll always try to offer an alternative appointment within the same week, although this can't be guaranteed and may need to be online or by telephone. If we're unable to find another mutually convenient time that week, the full session fee remains payable.

ABOUT THERAPY

Do I need to know what I want to talk about?

Not at all. Many people come to therapy knowing that something doesn't feel right but aren't sure why.

You don't need to have everything worked out or know where to begin. We can take time to explore what's brought you here and think together about what feels most important.

What happens in the first session?

The first session is an opportunity for me to get to know you and explore what has brought you to therapy.  It will include gathering information about your history and background. It will also help me understand what you're currently experiencing and how it affects your life and relationships.

There is no pressure to share everything straight away - we'll work at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

How would you describe your approach to therapy?

My work is relational, trauma-informed and grounded in curiosity. Together we'll explore the experiences and relationships that have shaped you, with the therapeutic relationship forming the foundation of our work.

Therapy isn't about me giving you advice or having all the answers. Instead, I see myself as a guide, walking alongside you as you work through difficult experiences, develop a deeper understanding of yourself, and create meaningful, lasting change.

I also enjoy working creatively where it feels helpful. This might include drawing, sand tray, metaphor, guided visualisations or writing to explore experiences that can sometimes be difficult to put into words.
